Case Study of 137Cs: Optimizing Counting Conditions with Different Background Region Width Selection

Throughout the years, an optimizing counting conditions and optimum background region width determination has been carried out by several methods in gamma-ray spectroscopy. The effect of various widths focus on digital integration photopeak analysis. As application tool this nuclear physics, radioactive sources mostly used lower or higher resolution detectors; such as NaI(Tl) HPGe detectors. This factor influences distinguishability peaks close proximity spectra. Therefore, a new computational statistical approach should be implemented to decrease error factors contributed one each bin content, namely counts, At point, greater precision might needed reached testing different side range interest for individual peak. In specific, Gilmore's Total Peak Area (TPA) method will here measure anaylze comparisons their effects gamma-rays scintiallation detector.
